No Terminator has ever come close to the original T-800 or the T-1000. I think it’s impossible to best them at this point, in all honesty.

I agree. Especially T-1000. I don't even know how one could improve on the lethality and durability of that one. Putting an Endo inside of it is a step backward.

It cannot be worse than this... can it?

The intent was always for it to look like tarnished chrome, since the very first film. Get The WInston Effect book if you must, can't go against the word of people who actually designed and painted those.

Yes, unbelievably, the future war scenes look worse than T3. After going back through the trailers, for some reason beyond my comprehension they appear to have been colour graded to day-for-night in the final film - the brief clips in the trailers are a lot darker and moodier than how they actually ended up. Terrible decision, if they were going to do anything to them in post it should have been to grade them blue to match the first two films.

The Winston Effect is a fantastic book and one I'm eternally grateful I picked up. Just a magical read, I've lost count of the amount of times I've gone through it at this point.

While there is some mediocre narration in here, I really wish we could get this in a film.

The best way to enjoy this is to read the novelisation for T2 by Randall Frakes that's based on Cameron and Wisher's first draft of the script. It's a really good read, has some interesting differences from the final film (I like the original ending in the steel mill a little bit more than what we actually got, honestly), and fleshes out a lot of details like how the T-1000 works and thinks.

I'll have to look into that. I did read the original script for the ending and it works better in the film although it is interesting. Do you know of the T2: Book of the Film? I was thinking about grabbing that.

No, but thank you for bringing that to my attention. Right now I make most of my money doing storyboards for films and TV ads, and I remember from what I've seen over the years T2 had some damn good storyboards. I'm going to track down a copy of that ASAP.

I believe it has most if not all of them. Very thought out stuff, especially Sarah's alternate dream sequence.

Cameron's work designs of the time displacement complex is pretty incredible.

This is why I'll always respect Cameron. He can essentially do every job needed in the production of a film by himself, except act. His artwork is amazing, the storyboards for T1 drawn entirely by him are the best I've seen for any film, ever. His concept art for the endo, HKs, etc that Stan Winston tricked him into drawing are absolutely outstanding mechanical designs.

While it utterly sickens me what he's become, there's no denying the guy's talent.

I wish Stan was still around. Him and his team back then were magicians. I don't know where those guys are now but I know they're hardly being used since everything is shittly built in a computer program now. I did watch a pretty fun reunion of the Predator crew recently.

I met Stan Winston in Chicago way back in 2000 or 2001 at Wizard World. He was such a cool guy--took time to chat with people and somehow kept himself from getting irritated with the crazy fans. I didn't know he was going to be there and didn't have anything for him to sign so I just talked to him for a minute. Still one of the coolest experiences I've had at a convention.

There's a short list of people in the entertainment industry that I'd like to meet and he's one of them. I'm glad I grew up with his work. I didn't see T2 in the theater but I probably saw it 50 times as a kid shortly after it hit cable. It goes without saying it was a juggernaut of influence to my generation. And were not even mentioning JP. This guy caught lightning more than once.

I remember not liking T1 all that much as a kid. This is indicative that children retarded. :poop:

Terminator 2 and Predator 2 were the first R-rated films I got to see in theaters.

No, I had the funky freezer pop T-1000 and some kind of goofy thermonuclear arm T-800.
