I think a lot of their Star Wars releases have been disappointing, in all honesty.

There’s always some kind of flaw holding them back. Every single one that I own. Even the ones that are near perfect. None of their Star Wars figures are in my top five. Period. Not even Chewbacca.

I was reading the thread over at ssf and had a chuckle at someone saying this looks like Gary Coleman as Darth Maul. Not completely true, but the sculpt is definitely off. Everything else about it looks great (and dye bleed shouldn’t be an issue on this guy, for obvious reasons).

Honestly this looks killer. Sideshow's version is also good but the price I couldn't get over because it was bare bones. At least this comes with some accessories.

Sideshow’s price would’ve been okay, had he come with every conceivable version of his lightsaber and a cloak. We all know the game they were playing though. That’s why they got slammed on the second batch of Maul. They couldn’t even stay consistent for that bloated ass price tag.

Someone put pics up of the ss, ht, and a screencap side by side. I couldnt tell the SS version from the screen cap. I was actually shocked. lol

You can tell. It’s just the closest we’ve gotten in the scale so far. They both do a lot right, but Sideshow’s 2.0 is definitely more impressive looking. It just lacks the punch the Hot Toys version has.

lol Medicom. The v1 SS wasn't bad for its time. Nice sculpt, looks just like Ray Park, but the paint apps and horns were a bit thick.

I know shitting on Sideshow is the cool thing to do these days, but, I think the SS ones looks better over the HT. Still either should satisfy anyone's collection.

I still have the v1 figure. I honestly only see a little of Ray Park. None of them fully capture him though. From certain angles, the Hot Toys does.

The Sideshow v2 definitely captures the look he has when the hanger doors open, without a doubt. He’d benefit from a pers system.

The Medicom just does whatever. The horns are terrible and the head is too narrow, the opposite of the Hot Toys.

I hate when people make unboxings like this, dude we don't want to see you we want to see the figure. Anyhow, this is a good look at the box and everything inside it.

Is that the one where it’s really loud and obnoxious? They posted about one on ssf. Can’t watch videos currently.

No idea, as soon as the video started I muted it. I knew it was going to be annoying.

Yeah, that’s the one, lol. Definitely could’ve been better. Barely get to see anything in real detail.

From certain angles, the Hot Toys looks good, but dead on, I prefer the Sideshow v2. If I was going to pose a Darth Maul fighting, it would be this one.

To hell with that second headsculpt though. At no point does he look like that when he fights in the film. He has a grimace and a snarling appearance, but never quite full on screaming.

Better video. Err, kinda.

That second head really is a pile of crap. I’d never in a million years use it. If it was a teeth gritting sculpt, yes. And it looks like another meh cloak from Hot Toys. Unless he just doesn’t know how to futz it?

Frankly, I wish there was a “bargain” version of this without the extra head and maybe even the droid. Obviously, without the speeder as well. I’d have kept my pre-order of the regular edition, if it were only around $235 or so.

I don’t know man, maybe maul never does a full on yell but the headsculpt looks great to me, on a technical level how could you say it’s a pile of crap?

Because that head doesn’t look like him at all. And the facial expression he’s making looks ridiculous. I nearly thought he was old man Maul missing his dentures, when it was first shown.

Even with that odd expression it's still better than the older 3 just by quality alone, it's almost an unfair comparison.

Agree that sculpt looks retarded. Might as well done one with the oh shit expression after Kenobi snikt'd his ass.

But he didnt die of course. Disney and their lame ass fan service. Took one of Kenobi signature moments away and is now taking Darth Vaders.

I’d have preferred the look when they’re clashing sabers in the early part of the battle in the open chamber of death and it cuts to Maul gritting his teeth.
