They didn’t really change anything on this, so having the original release of the Sideshow 2.0 is still the best option. Paying $280 for a damn light-up feature as the only real upgrade is a bit much.

As a very casual fan I could not care less about these asinine inaccuracies. None of the older figures I've seen look nearly as good, this is one of the best SW figures Hot Toys has made.

It's odd how early this was released, I kind of wish Alita or Bucky got released instead of this to be honest

Edit: is it me or one of the pupils is slightly smaller? maybe it's just the angle. I'll have to check mine when I get it. Now that I see it just looks like the eyes are not perfectly aligned.

The best thing about this figure is the cloak and the light-up saber. And the joints won’t be as loose, albeit I’ve never had that problem with the Sideshow 2.0 version.

The one I have is still easily the best 1/6 Darth Maul that’s ever been made. It’s a shame that Sideshow dropped the ball on the second batch of the 2.0, as they are definitely NOT as good.

I just checked pictures of it, that's no figure that's a toy. But if you prefer it good for you, you'll be saving a lot of money.

The SSC sculpt shits all over both of these. There’s no doubt about it. You have to be blinded by the hype train not to see it.

And they didn’t even change the second sculpt, from what I can tell... and people bitched a fit about it.

The only gripe about the SSC version is that it didn’t come with the robe, which didn’t matter for those that already had a previous Maul figure or custom robe. The nose tattoo isn’t quite as accurate either, but that’s an easy fix.

And if you’re looking at the second batch of 2.0 Mauls, you’re doing it wrong.

You can disagree all you like but don't come at me with bullshit like "you're blinded by hype" what part of I'm a very casual fan of Star Wars was hard to understand? don't try to make up a reason for me disagreeing with you, but maybe you did it because I wasn't clear enough on why. Listen, it's not that I think their Darth Maul alone is shit, I think the vast majority of their figures is shit. I don't like any of them. The quality of their figures is hilariously low even when you compare it to the newcomers like Blitzway

The SSC one is a good sculpt but it's painted with crayons compared to this. When Hot Toys puts their A team on a headsculpt, you get this one. It's one of the few sculpts that's actually alive.

I don't think I'm getting this one, but it's quite amazing.

The price makes it hard to justify unless you really like it or just happen to have the money to spare like me. I wonder how much was Bespin Luke back when, that was an amazing DX, and complete with two figures which wasn't even necessary.

A lot of people are blinded by this release. They’ve been that way since it was shown. The only thing this one does better is the horns and the paint applications of the eyes—as far as the sculpt goes.

As a Darth Maul fan—this figure has failed in almost every conceivable way to impress me. Something a bloated price tag of a figure did some years back. I cannot stand most of Sideshow’s 1/6 figures anymore, but their Darth Maul is one of the best 1/6 figures I’ve ever seen—especially in person.

The paint application isn’t sweaty looking like the Hot Toys, but I’ve never liked that about Maul anyway. It’s more accurate, I know, but they’re supposed to be tats and the Sideshow figure conveys that better.

Seeing people dump on the SSC version irritates me and always will. I’ll be the first one to shit on the second batch, as it really truly is awful, but some people gotta give credit where credit is due. Even if it’s just the ONE time.

Hot Toys dropped the ball. They continue to drop the ball with their Star Wars figures. It’s frustrating. The QC issues alone are enough to make someone stop collecting them.

Because he’s a pain in the ass to fiddle with and another one riddled with QC issues. Vader should be one of the fastest selling 1/6 figures from Hot Toys.

Nope.

If we were talking about the Rogue One or the ESB version though...

I’m also sick of their material ruining every single figure in this line. Dude... how hard is it to bleed the dye out of this material before we fork over $240 a figure? Seriously! I think every Star Wars figure they’ve done with a robe has had this issue.

Yeah I got rid of that, Obi Wan, Anakin and all I got left is the original ANH Vader to sell which no one wants on eBay.
I'm only going to have 4 and no more, I considered Luke and Vader but if I go down that rabbit hole I will regret it.

Wait for the “includes everything” Luke and the ROTJ Vader.

Ssc maul looks pretty good, I think this ht maul looks a lot better but that’s in my eyes. I like the ht Star Wars line, I’ve been pleased with each release...only rotj Luke rubbed me the wrong due to the release of the version with tons of extras after I forked out money for the first barebones one
