Im not mad that ariel is being changed. If anything it could make sense that Ariel living in the sea under the constant sun would have creamy skin. That could make sense in a realistic version of a mermaid. Specially when the story takes place in the Caribbean.

It could never make sense since the story is an adaptation of a 19th century Danish fairy tale. Unless it takes place in African or Melanesian waters mermaids shouldn't be black, and that's the end of it.













And of course there's nothing realistic about mermaids - they simply cannot have human-like skin and face structure. So the whole idea that "realisticaly" they may have black skin is just as stupid.
