That could be what they were going for, but there are less aggressive marketing strategies that could get that point across. Roasting a cut-in-half toy from a family-friendly film over a fire looks like they're firing a shot across the bow to me.

Saw this the other day. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. So about on par with the original. Is is pretty much Single Small Soldiers. Some nice gore shots. But with what can be gotten away with now on screen, it needed way more violence. Needed some T&A. Mark Hamill voicing Chucky was no big deal as you couldn't tell it was him. Which I guess is good as a voice actor but still....
