That’s usually the way it works. But here... buying toys just sucks in general. It’s almost dried up.

For those that have the NECA cartoon turtles what's your opinion on them? Worth the money?

The cartoon turtle 2 packs are up for pre-order. Are they a different shade of green?

I got them when they were on sale for like $38 each and thought that was a steal. That was also when we didn’t really have a lot of Neca options either. Frankly, they’re the better figures anyway. Get them.

For the “merchandise” look, yes—they are better. Neca still has the best cartoon Turtles, because Figuarts never actually did cartoon accurate versions.

They’re only expensive because scalpers have made them so. They aren’t entirely at fault here though. Neca themselves set the precedent that these TMNT collectibles would be limited “due to Playmates.” That kind of thing always attracts the garbage of this community.

Furthermore, instead of Neca trying to work out a royalty deal, and charging slightly more to accommodate for it, they continued down this path the last few years. And with TMNT being one of the most in-demand properties out there (their toy sales have been better than Star Wars, as of late), it’s only natural that it would be difficult to track down some of these sets.

However, therein lies the problem—scalpers AND collectors are both snatching these figures up at rates that make even Marvel Legends Walmart exclusives blush. The only way to counterbalance the situation at this point is a fairly simple one. Make more. Produce so many of these sets that scalpers cannot justify spending that kind of money to keep buying them.

Eventually, word would get around online that pretty much anyone can just go right in and grab the figures. That would stop people from giving in and resorting to paying the vastly inflated prices on the secondary market.

honestly the one target close to me has never had them in. always empty on the shelf. so i can only assume they are getting a handful which is silly if the market is there for them!

I just need Casey, April and Splinter and after that, I’ll never worry about another figure from this bloated line again.

I respect your opinion.
I love the animated line. I don’t think it’s bloated. All we have are 2 versions of the Turtles, Krang, Shredder, Bebop & Rocksteady, and Foot Soldier. I’d buy Baxter, Leatherhead, Slash, Android Krang, General Trog, Rat King, Mondo Gecko, Napoleon BonaFrog... pretty much any character from the animated series. When we were kids there were like a hundred characters.

No, no... I’m not unimpressed by the line. It’s the fact that it’s become the new MOTU line for people to scalp. These fuckers need to crawl back in their hole.

Yes. I can’t stand scalpers either. I don’t even want anyone at the store to ever get an idea that I might be a scalper (because I’m not). So when I saw Bebop & Rocksteady, I only bought one set; even though I have two friends who were looking for them. I couldn’t offer to pick them up because I’d be buying 3 sets and look like a jerk. So instead, I immediately text pics to my friends and said “Such and such Target just got them!” It’s ashame really. Because even the image of looking like a scuzzy scalper prevents me from hooking up my friends...

I wouldn’t go that far, but people just need to stop with the Neca TMNT stuff already. It’s tiresome. And Neca claiming they’re being grabbed by the balls, because of Playmates, is no longer a viable excuse. Produce more.

None of the Super7 TMNT pre-orders have sold out on BBTS yet. Not a single one. Sure, it’s slightly more expensive and they’re specifically based on the old Toys, but there’s an issue here that’s clearly only affecting the Neca lines. They could avoid this black hole if they truly wanted to.
