Don't actors automatically sign over their likeness rights for merchandising when they join a Star Wars project? I remember there were issues with the OT so they made it a thing for later movies. That would explain why they were able to make Qui Gon Jinn but not Ras Al Ghul.

Well if that’s the case then I have no clue....I guess helmets are faster to design and produce..I’m just guessing

I think that's the case as well. The Remnant Trooper especially, is just an existing trooper with some battle damage slapped on, so easy money. (Looks good though.)

My bet is we'll see some dusty deathtrooper figures as well some day.

That being said, there aren't a whole lot of characters on that show without a helmet that I could see being made. The Child, Cara and Kuiil are pretty much it. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing The Client, but that's just because I think Herzog is awesome. Especially his voice. I can do quite a good impression these days, if I say so myself.

And I could see them make a 1:1 Child, just like they did with Baby Groot.

This isn't a major film release and she's not one of the main characters.

A 1:1 child would be awesome

I don't think being a main character really matters. I know Hasbro couldn't make the Tonnika sisters from ANH because likeness rights weren't part of their contract.

Bill Burr, who played a character in one of the Mandalorian episodes, said they did a full body scan of him for an action figure. A 6" Cara Dune figure was made with the actress' likeness too.

They made a droid no one asked for and a mandalorian that had a couple of minutes of screen time. They could make anyone next

Forgot to post that I got this one in a few weeks back as a gift. It's honestly my favorite figure of this year. Obi wan is an awesome figure but something about Dooku is just quite amazing.

It matters when the contract is made.

It's still different license for a bigger scale, and may require actor's approval. Remember that even with Jack Sparrow figures they've had to make several prototype heads so that Depp (or his agent) could approve one for the production. And we never ever got Barbossa or even re-issue of Davy Jones.

They made a droid no one asked for and a mandalorian that had a couple of minutes of screen time.
They were in there so that they could sell more merch.
A lot of these "characters" are put in scripts for this sole purpose.

Sure, but wouldn't you think main characters would be that much more prominent in merchandising? I'm saying LucasFilm allegedly has a fairly recent condition (from the prequels at least) where any actor signed on also has to sign over their likeness rights because Star Wars made/makes a good chunk of money from toys alone.

Sure, but that's not the Star Wars license. Depp not approving a product with his likeness is different from him actually signing over his likeness.

As for Barbossa and Davy Jones, I honestly think Hot Toys just sucks. They made Angelica (albeit as an exclusive), who Sideshow was literally giving away to some "lucky" customers, so I could see why they'd get cold feet and want to stick to just Jack since he sells like crazy. They made way more POTC figures during the time Dead Man's Chest and At World's End came out, but that was a much different time for Hot Toys.

I still wish we would've gotten the "rejected" smiling Jack head.

I wish we got that one too. I’d have actually picked up that figure instead of the one that came out a while back.

I know the Harry Potter series had the same clause for all the actors in the films. Didn't matter how minor their role was.

Sad peg warmer review:

Who the fuck thought slapping gold paint on figures and dumping them was a good idea?

The pegs next to the are entirely Yellow Jacket Luke. I really get the feeling Hasbro is just pushing everything out of the warehouse now.

A bunch of Jabba's Palace playsets going nowhere. What a stupid setting for a toy. I hated the Jabba's Palace scenes.

Cheap ugly ass white plastic sabers that you can record your own sound samples. "Fire KK!"

Hate to see it honestly. I’ve been digging their X-Men stuff a lot. They just don’t get it, when it comes to Star Wars anymore.

If only they had been better caretakers of their homegrown properties like GI Joe they would still have the world by the balls.

They had Star Wars locked down for years. Until that stupid change with TFA line. The 6” Black Series, the shitty kids toy series and the Black Series 3 3/4 inch line were just too much. Their problems all started from that moment.

I’m not sure if Disney was behind it. Doesn’t really matter. Three separate lines, two in the same scale, was moronic.
