Hot Toys can’t do believable cats to save their lives. Jonesy was pretty meh too.

Hot Toys phones it in more often than not. They can’t be bothered to treat this with the same love and passion they used to. Same old problems, same old Hot Toys. Their peak was from 2008 to 2012. They’ve stagnated since then, with only improvements in some material choices and obvious headsculpt talent.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney pays them to make some of the figures they've announced, especially the SW figures. It's clear nobody wants those yet they exist.

Star Wars and Marvel are immune to figure sales issues, when it comes to 1/6 it seems. They figure they will sell out eventually, so why not make them anyway. I guess...

They don't sell out just because of the brand. There's a ton of SW figures stores just can't get rid off to this day

No, no. I’m saying, that’s the mentality. They think it will sell at some point or another. So, they’re just gonna make it anyway. Except Qira.

I don't know what you're trying to say. Because making a product thinking "it's fine because it will sell one day" is something you cannot afford to think if you want to last for over a month in the market.

Anyhow, I'm just thinking out loud here, I'm not gonna pretend to understand the decision making process in HT

It's not a business model they can sustain forever. I'd wager they've taken a bath of well north of a few million with a bunch of shit just sitting on retailer shelves for years. The Disney deal is probably a package so they probably only got one set rate for producing everything under the umbrella.

That’s literally what I’m saying. Have you guys seen all the troopers they keep announcing? No one is buying these the way they think they are. They’re all shelf warmers, with few exceptions.

Nine times out of ten, Hot Toys won’t take a risk on any other property or character, BUT... if we’re talking Marvel or Star Wars, they churn out products no matter what. There have been a few exceptions to the rule, but I have a feeling they’re striving to make every single character from the films of both franchises.

Hell to be honest with way shit is overseas is isn't the tax hike that will keep collectors from buying it's some asshole coughing on a new product and it just sitting in limbo... waiting to be opened to spread wuhan again.

It'd be better if they made something people obviously want, two of the only SW characters I'd buy are Grievous and Palpatine, ROTS version. Those would easily sell more than half hey shit they've announced yet, nothing... maybe it'll happen but it hasn't happened yet

Yep. It’s made me pretty self-conscious about whether I should even open most of this shit for a while. I usually try to inspect what arrives to me.

A Grievous is long overdue. Palpatine is coming, no doubt about it. They’ll retool the head of the one they already have to boot.

Speaking of Troopers, the only ones that seems to be gone are the Rogue One figures. You can buy, at retail, almost all the others. Wow.
