It’s definitely getting review bombed, it deserves a higher score than that. I get not everyone will like it but even just in terms of presentation and technical accomplishments it should be hovering around a 7.

Is it the PC fanboys mad that they’re having to wait for it, or the Sony fanboys mad it’s eventually coming to PC?

It doesn't deserve a 0. I think the IGN 6.8 is right on the money. If the game stuck the landing for me, I would of given it an 8.

Metacritic nuked 6,400 negative reviews. They did nothing for the MG Survive review bomb though. Kojima probably reached out to them. In the end, it still doesn't help the game as Sony knows the revenue this thing generated and they got really vague and went after odd markets to try and convey it was a success. It's so weird how we never really get a hard figure on sales most of the time and they leave share holders completely in the dark.

After seeing how fast the hype died for this, I've decided not to waste my time playing it. I'm just gonna watch all the cutscenes on youtube unless I reach a point where it gets too much for me. The soundtrack and some of the concepts seem nice, but I'm not into delivery simulation.

I'm sure there's a really moving story, coupled with the gameplay, if you bring your own baggage and really get into it, but for 150 hours, I just don't wanna.

You dodged a bullet. I beat it a few weeks back and hardly even touched it again. Don't fall for the soundtrack hype, you hear the same song several times out of no where during gameplay. I dunno how you can make an even worse game than MGSV. I was completely numb to the entire third act of this.

Don't fall for the soundtrack hype

Yeah what's up with that? The only good song, or the only discernible song is the one they used for the 2nd trailer, the rest of the OST is samey ambient music, with little in features, melodies, rhythm, they might as well have use "ambient music for coding" from Youtube or something.

I think we always had our expectations placed wrong on Kojima, for some reason we always expected subtlety, but MGS1 is pretty much The Rock, he's Michael Bay with slightly better taste and an auteur complex, but apart from that, He's Japanese Michael Bay.

I mean, the dude is the cream of the crop when it comes to technical production values, but he just can't tell a compelling story.

I won't deny he can direct well and make it look polished... but writing?

My wife typically watches me play new games and she was so disinterested in this one. If she was in the room while the random injection of background music would come on during random gameplay she immediately called it out for what it is... a try hard attempt to give it "depth."

I saw people talking about the possibility of a sequel on Gamefaqs... this sold like shit and Sony took a bath with the budget. I'd be surprised they even renew his contract for another project.

MGSV isn’t actually that bad. It’s just not as good as it could have been. I’m more likely to finish it than I am MGS3 though. I have the hd collection. I’ll be giving MGS3 another shot in the summer.
