Finally got to the Mama cutscene, at this point I'm only making the main deliveries. The reward for making random deliveries is trash considering their real cost and potential cost, they are simply not with my time.

Last week a streamer I usually watch finished it and couldn't stop crying at the end of the game. But it's not like it's hard to make a woman cry anyhow, I still don't know what's going on with the story, but I wouldn't be surprised if Norman turns out to be BB somehow, and there is some time bullshit thing going on.

I stopped looking for ego boosts in artsy stuff when I realized Predator was one the smartest movies ever made.

I never understood why MGSV is praised for gameplay when all the features of MGS3-4 were gutted out and the open world experience played like a PS2 off brand military simulator. It may as well have been just a wireframe grid with nothing on it.

I liked MGSV's gameplay but it was too easy to play, MGS2-4 are way harder, in fact, I believe MGS4 has the most intricate CQC system ever, IDK why they didn't bring it back, like 40 combos you could do and pulling those off made you feel like a real operative.

The rockstar developer craze needs to die.

It's not new, it started with Doom, and eventually all rockstars have their Daikatana, the thing with Kojima is that he hasn't had an outright failure, just a couple games that haven't been very convincing, he needs to scale down his games, his scope is so huge in his last 2 games that it's hard to grasp it and feel anything.

If Koji pro breaks up, I hope Yoji gets scooped up by somebody else. He’s wasting his talents with such schlock.

Fuck this, this game has the most boring designs in any Kojima game ever. Even generic, you don't have Shinkawa in your team and come up with generic

MGSV had some of the worst AI I've ever seen in a recent AAA title. I wouldn't blame Koji too much as he was chartered to develop designs for the Kevin Costner moofie video game.

Some games in the 90's have better AI than games now, the industry took a different direction to appeal to the lowest common denominator. It looks like it worked because Fortnite is so popular. Working on AI should have been the future, it's all the fault of the suits. They never cared about games, they don't even know what games are, but as soon as they realized games are so profitable they wanted in. And there came huge developer groups obsessed with graphics, with a bunch of people who are not even gamers, working on games.

Yesterday I got to what I think is the final confrontation with Cliff. I already see why the girl cried so much during the final two hours of the game, I can see where this going. I KNEW I shouldn't trust Amelie.

And Heartman and Mama are the best characters, the game should have started with them.

Speaking of AI, ever player F.E.A.R.? That game's gameplay is fantastic and I don't think the AI has been topped by any other FPS yet.

Norman actually WAS the freaking BB all along, I wasn't trying to predict anything there I just threw that out there since the baby looked so much like him. And fucking Amelie WAS behind everything, the bitch. Turns out that despite being so weird and out there this game wasn't totally unpredictable.

I'd say the story would be easier to appreciate if this was a traditional open world game, like RDR2, normal open world where you can do anything, not this delivery bullshit. That is the one thing I'd change about this game to make it less frustrating and more replayable, no delivery at all. But Kojima went this way because of his heavy handed style, if Sam is the bridge to connect America again, the gameplay has to be about connecting America again, literally, with a stupid magical network.

This is why Kojima cannot be surrounded by yes men, there have to be other writes ready to call him out on his nonsense. Anyhow, despite Kojima, this game was enjoyable, and definitely better than other basic bitch games like Last Order... if only the gameplay was more traditional I'd keep playing it. But I don't think I will ever play it again.

Cliff, Heartman and Mama are GREAT characters, worthy of a better game than this.

I began to enjoy the plot until the colonic at gunpoint in the finale. You make a good point that the gameplay. It's only about the deliveries and nothing else. It's just as barren as MGSV, but at least this had impressive map design in the middle region and the mountains were all kinds of awesome.

Well, after a delay to get some surgery, I finally finished the story last night.

I was waiting for the game and story to disappoint me, and they never did. I thoroughly enjoyed the fight with Higgs, especially that it turned into a full-blown boxing simulator with Sam pounding his smug little face into the mud. I thought it was a smart move on Kojima's part structuring the ending in essentially reverse order - getting the world-ending apocalyptic stuff out of the way and ending on intimate character details instead. Discovering exactly what Bridget/Amelie had done to Clifford, John and Sam after the fact of stranding her on her own beach was a good narrative choice, I think.

Maybe it was the comedown from surgery, but I found myself actually crying at Die-Hardman's confession (maybe the single best piece of acting I've ever seen in a videogame), the final mission to cremate BB, and especially Clifford's goodbye to Sam. I'm really glad I stuck with the game through the first ten hours, because I'll never forget the last five.

9/10, I riked it.

PS- Lea Seydoux sucked in this and phoned in by far the worst performance of the game. Pretty incredible considering she's supposed to be top Hollywood talent. Even Dorito Pope himself was more convincing.

It was the best in there, but I felt pretty numb to it. Maybe if it wasn't surrounded with such ham fisted exposition for the previous hour and a half.

I would of given this an 8/10 if it didn't have the drawn out ending that it did.

Going across the maps at the end felt like it took forever, when in reality you can get through in 5 to 8 minutes, and I didn't even build roads. The cutscenes on the other hand are long as fuck and they felt short, I think if there was no gameplay during the third act it'd be at least a bit better.
